B.W. May scored 35 out of 40 for the Considerate Constructors Scheme, for their first site review at Marsh Road, Ruckinge.

B W May are now in full progress with a new housing scheme for English Rural Housing Association in Ruckinge, Ashford. The Ruckinge development comprises of 6 new homes built for local people, which includes the installation of Ground Source Heat Pumps and Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery units. The scheme will also be built with higher insulated walls, roof, windows and floors, over above current building regulation requirements therefore providing high energy efficient houses.

 

The Ruckinge scheme is aiming to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level  4.

The Greenside scheme at High Halden, achieved the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 standard, Secured by Design Certification and a score of 36 out of 40 for the Considerate Constructor Scheme.

B.W May have taken the opportunity of employing a small number of management and skilled employees from a local electrical contractor, whom sadly went into administration recently. Andy Spice of B.W May stated “ The decision for offering an electrical service in-house, means we can now provide the complete building package from within, thus ensuring we can continue to offer top quality work at competitive prices”.

Andrew Cruttenden from B.W May stated; “ We all worked hard as a team and achieved our objective in achieving the highest category for  the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we now need to aim to achieve this standard for all B.W May projects”.

Following on from our High Halden Primary School visit, promoting safety on building sites and facilitating a poster competition on Health & Safety. High Halden Primary School visited the project to see the progress of the six new homes for English Rural Housing Association.

The promotion of Health and safety within the High Halden community has been driven by B.W May embracing the Considerate Constructors Scheme, www.ccscheme.org.uk.

“Our aim was to deliver a scheme, which would result in having a positive impact with the local community and working towards our new mission statement objectives”
